Welcome Dawn!
Nov 26, 2010
I have an AS Degree in Applied Business from Terra Community College in Fremont, Ohio, which I graduated with summa cum laude honors. My work experience includes 7 years as a financial aid representative at a community college and 14 years as an executive/administrative assistant at a certified public accounting firm.
I grew up in a small town in northwest Ohio called Fostoria, located about 50 miles south of Toledo. I have 1 brother and 2 sisters. I am the youngest in my family. After graduation from high school, I thought I "knew it all" and immediately married the "love of my life" and had my first son at the age of 19. Needless to say, I was divorced by age 20 and had to find a way to support myself. I thought college would be out of the question being a single mother but I lucked out one day by being in the right place at the right time. I accepted a position at a nearby community college that also allowed me to take courses tuition-free.
I had vacationed in Florida several times during the cold Ohio winters and immediately fell in love with not only with the Florida weather, but the area. I made Florida my permanent home in 1992. I also met the real "love of my life" here in Florida in 1996. His name is Steven and we were married in 2000. My husband and I have 3 beautiful sons together, Steven Jr. (9), Jonathon (8), and Brian (4), and we recently celebrated our 10th wedding anniversary. When I am not working, my free time is spent with my family and two cats.
I am excited to have this opportunity to contribute to the IBA's continued growth and success. I look forward to getting to know everyone in the matrix and working with each of you personally.
